GPNYS Peace Slate Files Petitions for November Elections

m4gv.gifTuesday, August 22nd, Malachy McCourt, Green Party of New York candidate for Governor, and the NY Green Party Peace Slate delivered petitions to the Board of Elections in Albany to put them on the ballot for the November 7th general election. The campaigns submitted 30,000 signatures, which is double the required 15,000 needed for placement on the ballot.

Collecting this many signatures is an stunning achievement for a volunteer based organization and shows the broad support for Malachy McCourt’s campaign and the Green Party  message.  This demonstrates that voters want a choice when they go to the polls,  a choice that will promote peace, abolish the death penalty, bring home the NY National Guard, and insure health care for all.

McCourt was joined at the Board of Elections by members of the GPNYS Peace Slate: U.S. Senate candidate Howie Hawkins; Attorney General candidate Rachel Treichler; and State Comptroller candidate Julia Willebrand. Lt. Governor candidate Alison Duncan, and 3rd District Congressional candidate Jim Brown were also listed on the joint petition.
